The 4 hot-water baths of Basse-Terre in Guadeloupe

  • Bouillante is famous for its hot-water baths! The “Thomas” spring, a small basin surrounded by rocks, offers water at 80°C on the seafront. Avoid going there when it’s high tide, but scrape the sand for an even warmer feeling.
  • Capesterre Belle Eau offers 2 hot springs close to the carbet waterfalls. The PARADIS waterfall has a water temperature of 32°C, while the pool you’ll discover as you continue your hike has a water temperature close to 39°C. Take a dip and relax!
  • Gourbeyre is also home to hot springs! The heart-shaped, tiled Amours bath has been redesigned for the whole family to enjoy. As you continue your hike, you’ll find other small, wild & natural baths, but colder!
  • Head for the soufriere where you can swim in water at 28c°.. Yellow baths are so named because the smell of sulfur is so strong here!

In Morne à l’eau, you’ll find the BABIN beach, which provides dermatological benefits thanks to a sulfurous clay mud found by scraping the sand. Brush on and leave to dry!
